Southern Comfort

Southern Point Vineyards Merlot
My mummy always said “…an idle mind is the devil’s playground.” Today I let me self go there. Instead of throwing myself into my work as usual I allowed myself to sit and reminisce about the past… successes as well as failures. Many hours later I snapped back to reality and decided to hit my kitchen up for a bottle of wine.
Today’s review is of a California Merlot by Southern Point Vineyards. I’m not a huge fan of California wines (or American wines as a whole) but one thing I love about many American Wine is they make amazinly easy to read labels (which helps when you’re blogging about wine and your two hearty glasses into the bottle, yet I digress).
Southern Point’s Circa 2008 is a oak-y smelling bold Merlot that attacks the palate and makes no excuses at it wars in your mouth. Tastes of tree bark, and tangerine come to mind. My suggestion to noob wine drinkers is to tread lightly, sip slowly, and fine a sweet snack to munch on while you’re dinking (sweet pieces of chocolate come to mind).
Southern Point’s California Merlot can be found in many wine shops, and CVS.
